01.

Starting Clear Aligner Treatment

First, you’ll visit our office for a consultation. We will evaluate your oral health and confirm that you are a good candidate for clear aligners.

Using 3D scans of your teeth, a custom treatment plan is developed for correctly aligning your teeth. This typically takes six months to a year and a half.

Once ready, you will receive a series of clear plastic aligners that match your treatment plan. You will wear each aligner for around two weeks before switching out for the next.

02.

The Clear Aligner Treatment Timeline

You’ll wear each set for about one to two weeks, 20–22 hours daily. You’ll return to Race Track Smiles for visits every six to eight weeks to check your progress.

Once you have worn the entire series of aligners, your teeth and smile should be in correct alignment as planned in your treatment. If additional alignment is still needed, we will recommend further treatment options.

FAQ

  • What are the advantages of clear aligners?

Clear aligners have many benefits compared to traditional braces:

    • Clear aligners are discreet and barely noticeable.
    • You can easily eat, drink, brush, and floss without food restrictions.
    • Smooth plastic aligners reduce irritation compared to metal braces.
    • Less frequent checkups are needed compared to traditional braces.
    • Aligners are designed specifically for your smile with 3D imaging.
    • They treat crowding, spacing, and bite issues with predictable results.
  • Will wearing clear aligners affect my speech?

Clear aligners may slightly affect your speech at first, especially in the first few days. You may have a slight lisp or difficulty pronouncing certain words. However, this is usually temporary—most people adjust quickly as their tongue gets used to the aligners.

  • Is clear aligner treatment effective for all kinds of teeth alignment issues?

Clear aligners can effectively treat many common teeth alignment issues, including mild to moderate crowding or spacing, overbites, underbites, crossbites, open bites, and general teeth straightening.
